The rise of private labels opens up a market of 130 M consumers
Mexico is traditionally a brand-oriented country. Although private labels are gradually gaining ground, this is almost exclusively due to price. They have not yet overcome the barrier of consumer trust, nor have they largely moved into the premium segment. However, the strong growth of hard discount retailers, spearheaded by Tiendas 3B, is driving other retailers to commit firmly to this type of format and to start viewing it as a key factor in building customer loyalty and differentiating themselves.
